ABOUT THE ROLE:
The company is looking for a Global Head of Data to join its growing team and to play a central role in helping the company scale up to 5M+ users.
This is a critical leadership role. The Global Head of Data will head a team of data scientists, data-focused product managers, data engineers, and backend engineers. Data will be a horizontal team that will work with every vertical team at the company (User, Employer, Banking, Credit, Channels, Internal, Core Infra, Finance, Sales, Growth, Strategic, and Biz Dev).
Your main responsibility will be to lead the design, development and implementation of all Data Science, Analytics, Machine Learning and Business Data applications so as to multiply the product’s impact across the business units. This will include building the Agile backlog, hiring and managing scrum teams, driving the development, initial prototyping in a sandbox environment, data pipelining for production deployment, implementation, testing and successful production deployment of solutions. Applications can range from prospecting for sales leads, digitization solutions for client experience, client attrition management, business reporting, dashboards, scorecards, optimization models, data feeds to channel partners, etc. A key aspect of the role will be to work with business and product partners to ensure adoption of all data applications to create measurable business value.
In summary, you will be instrumental in leading and developing data science solutions from idea to maturity as the company continues to replace predatory lending with gentler, more employee-friendly cash management solutions. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
● Uncover and articulate the full breadth of possibilities of the use of existing/potential data assets and provide a comprehensive vision of how data will be leveraged
● Develop a scalable strategy to collect, manage and store, expose and visualize data across the organization and drive enterprise-wide governance and utilization of information as an asset
● Create a comprehensive, relevant, pragmatic and fit for purpose roadmap focused on building the foundational data capabilities and democratizing data to all functions
● Build, lead and mentor a team of data engineers, integration developers, BI developers
● Ensure that the company is managing/maintaining information in a regulatorily compliant way
● Lead implementation of a global data store roadmap (warehouse, ODS, data lake, etc.) that provides the right balance between standardization, quality and availability
● Deliver prioritized data and BI capabilities for senior management decision making
WORK EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:
● 10+ years experience leading a data, analytics, and business intelligence function within a significant scope. While the successful candidate could have come up through either data science, product or data engineering, s/he will have demonstrated continuous improvement and increasing responsibility within a data, analytics and business intelligence function
● Previous organizational leadership, growth, and oversight of a distributed team (internal and external)
● Articulated experience in data privacy, locally applicable data regulations such as CCPA/GDPR, and emerging trends
● Strong architecture and technical background in data integration, warehousing, and BI tools
● Knowledge of databases (SQL), version control tools (Github), operations scaling, cloud infrastructure, automatization, and monitoring
● Degree in computer science, data science, business administration or related discipline
● Experience with SaaS preferred. Fintech experience - and payroll and human resources functions in particular - would be big a plus
