Senior Data Scientist

The company empowers retailers to create better experiences while using fewer of the world's resources. Their cloud-based platform uses machine learning, predictive analytics and data optimization to deliver agile merchandising decisions. Clients include global retailers like Versace, River Island and Pepe Jeans. Over time, the plan is to expand beyond pure fashion into other verticals where inventory and stocking are equally mission-critical.
The company is backed by more than $12 million in funding from leading venture capitals. They will be raising a Series B at the end of this year.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
You will be assigned to one or more squads comprised of Data, Product and Ops and focusing on the key areas of the business: sales forecasting, inventory optimization, order replenishment, and restocking and store transfers. The goal of each squad is to multiply the product’s impact across the business units.
The Senior Data Scientist will be instrumental in leading and developing data science solutions from idea to maturity as the company continues to make the retail world a better, more sustainable place.
You will be doing data science for B2B. You will not only be building, monitoring and scaling models but also working on real-world problems for multiple large clients. All this within a highly stimulating environment in which data science plays a central role.
BACKGROUND and REQUIREMENTS:
At least 5 years of experience working as a data scientist
Strong foundation in machine learning with a focus on prescriptive analytics and decision making optimization
This role has a distinct supply chain focus: time-series forecasting, building data pipelines, operations research, algorithm design, and simulation techniques
Experience with object-oriented programming in Python/Java
Knowledge of databases (SQL), version control tools (Github), operations scaling, cloud infrastructure, automatization, and monitoring
Key to your success will be a business-oriented approach that prioritizes building simple but robust solutions to complex problems
Experience with SAAS preferred. Retail experience a plus
